Prof. Antonio Huerta, new president of the IACM

Professor Antonio Huerta, full professor in civil engineering at the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC) and a regular collaborator of CIMNE, has been elected as new president of the International Association for Computational Mechanics (IACM, www.iacm.info). The IACM groups the main organizations in the world in the field of numerical methods in engineering and related topics. The Secretariat of the IACM is located at CIMNE.

The election of Prof Huerta as the new IACM president took place during the 13th World Congress on Computational Mechanics, held jointly with the 2nd Pan-American Congress on Computational Mechanics held in the city of New York on 23-27 July 2018. Prof. Huerta was the General Secretary of the IACM in the period 2010-2018.

Former officers of the IACM with close links to CIMNE have been the CIMNE director, Prof. Eugenio Oñate (President of the IACM in the period 2002-2010 and Secretary General in 1994-2002) and Prof. Sergio Idelsohn, full research professor at CIMNE (Vicepresident of the IACM in 2008-2018, and Secretary General in 2000-2008).
